Putting on an event

We're trying to share our experience and demystify site-prearation, be it an urban convergence or a field camp from scratch.

We have divided our experience into the following categories, but maybe you've got time to read everything, and help us bust any lingering jargon by adding to the "Frequently Asked Questions".

Even if you don't believe you'll go as far as, for example, producing ex-urinal straw bails and taking them to an appreciative allotment at the end of your event, we hope these guides, or "recipes" help you make an informed exploration of how low-impact, low-tech or intelligently renewable your event could be.

  • Site Office Guide
  • Kitchen Advice
  • Camp Electrics
  • Plumbing part 1: getting water on site
  • An Introduction to Transport

These are the solutions that we know best, but there are many different solutions out there. For further inspiration we have a links page for other impermanent human habitats like http://shewhomeasures.wordpress.com/tree-bog/ or permanent urban regenrration like http://www.rhizomecollective.org/node/7

Training Week

There will be a free AT Co-op training week in Nottingham, from Thursday 6th of May to Monday 10th of May 2010.

This will include putting up marquees, erecting and mending the flat pack toilets and painting them for beauty and durability, as well as all the technical and theoretical (power, plumbing etc) skillsharing that launched the site crews of the No Borders Camp in Calais, and the Camp for Climate Action in Blackheath in 2009.

We would like to see 50 new people there. We can cope with 70 if they are
considerate and co-operative.
